E2·T2 — how we grade routesGood mix of terrain in a corner of Scotland that most trail runners haven't found yet. Views open up to Ben Vorlich and the Trossachs hills as you gain height.
A varied circuit from the Perthshire village of Comrie combining forest tracks, open hillside, and riverside paths above Strathearn. Little known outside the local running scene.
The route
From Comrie village, the route climbs through forest onto the open hillside above Strathearn. Views extend south across the valley to the Ochil Hills and north to the Munros around Loch Earn. The return follows riverside paths back into the village.
Why Comrie
Comrie sits on the Highland Boundary Fault — the geological divide between lowland Scotland and the Highlands. The terrain above the village reflects that transition, with mixed woodland giving way to open moorland.
Some steep woodland sections. Deer stalking on open hillside — check estate notices.
