About Trail Running Planet
A no-nonsense route repository for trail runners. Free GPX downloads, honest grades, real conditions from the community.
What we do
Trail Running Planet is a curated database of trail running routes — starting in the UK, expanding globally. Every route is verified by a human, graded honestly in both directions (we'll tell you when something is easier than it looks too), and comes with a free GPX download. No account needed, no email gate.
We also publish terrain-specific safety information, kit recommendations, and community condition reports so you can make good decisions before you head out.
How grading works
We use two independent scales: Effort (E1–E5) computed from the GPX, and Terrain (T1–T5) set by our editors. The overall grade is the higher of the two — so a short technical ridge gets the same headline grade as a long easy ultra, but the detail tells you why.
