About Fairfield Horseshoe 10
The Fairfield Horseshoe is one of the classic Lake District ridge walks — a horseshoe of fells encircling Rydale above Ambleside, with Fairfield (873 m) at its summit. The "10" variant extends the standard horseshoe to include ten significant summits, taking in the full length of both arms of the horseshoe plus connecting ridges.
At 29 km with around 2,400 m of ascent, it is a full half-day challenge for fell runners. The ridge gives excellent views east to the Helvellyn range and west to Windermere.
