Manx 100 Route
The Manx 100 Route is a 100 km challenge circuit of the Isle of Man — visiting the Snaefell summit, Ramsey, Peel and the southern coastline in a complete circumnavigation of the island on road and trail.
This route has no official waymarking. Serious navigation experience is required — do not rely on GPS alone. Carry OS 1:25,000 maps and study the line before you go.
About Manx 100 Route
The Isle of Man sits in the centre of the British Isles — equidistant from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales — with its own language (Manx), parliament (Tynwald, the world's oldest continuous parliament), and distinctive fell running culture. The Manx 100 visits Snaefell (621 m, the island's highest point), the Raad ny Foillan (Way of the Gull coastal footpath), the Millennium Way and connects the main towns in a 100 km circuit.
The island is famous for the TT motorcycle races but its fell running tradition is strong — the Manx Mountain Marathon is one of the classic island events.
The route
The circuit typically starts from Douglas and visits: Snaefell via the Mountain Road, Ramsey (north), Peel (west coast), Port Erin (south) and the coastal path back to Douglas. The Raad ny Foillan provides the coastal section.
Getting there & logistics
Access: Steam Packet Company ferries from Liverpool, Heysham and Belfast to Douglas. Manx Airlines from UK airports.
Base: Douglas. The island is small enough to base anywhere.
Best time: May to September. The TT race period (late May/early June) brings significant traffic.
Safety
Snaefell is exposed fell terrain. The coastal paths have cliff edges. In an emergency: call 999 or 112. IoM Coastguard for coastal incidents; Manx Mountain Rescue for inland. Pre-register SMS 999.
