About Nantlle Ridge Extended

The Nantlle Ridge is one of Snowdonia's finest ridges — a narrow, exposed crest above the Nantlle valley with dramatic views to the Lleyn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay. The classic traverse is 15 km; the Extended version loops back via Moel Hebog and Mynydd Mawr to make a complete circuit of the valley.

At 32 km with around 2,200 m of ascent, it is a demanding single-day challenge. The Nantlle Ridge itself involves narrow paths and some scrambling — care needed in wet conditions.

The route

From Rhyd Ddu: ascend Y Garn (633 m) and traverse the Nantlle Ridge to Craig Cwm Silyn (734 m) and Mynydd Graig Goch. Descend to Nantlle and ascend Moel Hebog (782 m). North to Mynydd Mawr (698 m). Return to Rhyd Ddu via the eastern slopes.
