Events of the North

Events of the North is a North East events company (trading as DS Media & Events Ltd) behind a mix of city road races and two big weekends at Kielder Water and Forest Park in Northumberland. For trail runners the draw is the Altra Kielder Marathon weekend each October, run almost entirely on the Lakeside Way around the reservoir, and The Northumbrian in June, a triathlon weekend that now includes 28K and 50K UTMB Index trail runs. Most of its other events (Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Worcester, Newcastle's New Year's Eve 5K) are road races. Kielder events are well supported, with park-and-ride shuttles, bag drop and chip timing, but the venue is remote with very little public transport, so plan travel and allow plenty of time from the car park to the start.
