About this route
An 18km loop from Coniston up the Lad Stones ridge to Wetherlam (763m), down Wetherlam Edge to Tilberthwaite and round through Little Langdale before an easy run back through Yewdale. Around 900m of climb, nearly all of it in the first 5km.
Hazards & notes
Wetherlam Edge is a steep, rocky descent with a couple of hands-on steps that get greasy in the wet. The Coppermines valley and Tilberthwaite are riddled with old mine shafts and quarry holes, so stay on the paths. Wetherlam's rounded summit is easy to leave in the wrong direction in cloud.
Emergency
Call 999 or 112 → ask for Police → request Mountain Rescue. Register Emergency SMS: text "register" to 999.
