About this route

A 16.1km loop from Hawkshead linking Tarn Hows, Esthwaite Water and the low wooded country between them. Gentle, scenic Lakeland running through some of Beatrix Potter's best-loved landscape.

Hazards & notes

Busy honeypot paths at Tarn Hows and Hawkshead mean crowds in season, and the lanes between carry traffic, so take care on road sections. Low ground holds mud after rain.

Emergency

Call 999 or 112 → ask for Police → request Mountain Rescue. Register Emergency SMS: text "register" to 999.
