It is the whole of Marsden Moor in one loop - Wessenden, Standedge and the reservoir chain - on ground that carries centuries of packhorse and canal history, and you can run it door to door from the train.

About this route
The classic 16.4km circuit of Marsden Moor from the village, taking in the reservoirs and the high Pennine watershed on old tracks and the Pennine Way. Big, open moorland running straight from a railway station.
Hazards & notes
Exposed moor with blanket bog off the main tracks and featureless tops that need navigation in cloud. Weather can change fast with no shelter. Ground-nesting birds from March to July, and grouse shooting on parts of the moor from August to December.
