What you’re in for

Fifteen, twenty or twenty-seven miles of the Kent Downs from Wye village hall, with the station three hundred yards away: dry chalk valleys and the views between the Stour and Elham valleys. Ten hours, late September. An LDWA challenge event, which means walkers and runners together, a route description to navigate by rather than tape, checkpoints with food and drink, and a meal at the end. Entry is through the LDWA's own system, places are limited, and the ones in this list tend to fill early.

Terrain and trail

Chalk downland track, dry valley and woodland edge on the North Downs, firm in September and rolling rather than steep. A road shoe with tread.
