LDWA The Irregulars
The Irregulars local group of the Long Distance Walkers Association. LDWA challenge events are walkers' events that welcome runners: you follow a written route description between checkpoints with food and drink, there is a time limit generous enough for a steady walk, and you get a certificate at the end. Entry is cheap, members pay less, and most events fill.

Loops of 11.6, 7.2 and 4.2 miles round the Holmfirth hills from Brockholes, as many or as few as you like, nine hours, tea and toast to start and a meal to finish.

Hangover Hike
The Leggers Inn, Mill Street, Dewsbury · LDWA The Irregulars
New Year's Day from the Leggers Inn at Dewsbury: twenty-one, thirteen or ten miles, all meeting at one main checkpoint so you can lengthen or shorten on the day, and a hair of the dog at the end.
