The Atom Panopticon from Wycoller Country Park

The Atom is a curved concrete shell you can stand inside, and from the doorway it frames Pendle Hill one way and Boulsworth the other. You get both without a long day out.

About this route

A 6.3km loop from that starts at Wycoller Country Park and climbs to the Atom, one of the Panopticon sculptures on the moor edge above Wycoller, then drops back through farmland. Around 160m of climb on quiet lanes and moor tracks.

Hazards & notes

The moor-edge sections hold water and get boggy after rain, and the return grass slopes are slick when wet. In low cloud the moor top feels remote, so carry a map.

Emergency

Call 999 or 112 → ask for Police → request Mountain Rescue. Register Emergency SMS: text "register" to 999.
