About this route

A 13.1km loop from Ribblehead over Whernside, the highest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks at 736m, with the famous viaduct as your start and finish.

Hazards & notes

The summit ridge is narrow and fully exposed to wind, and the steep descent off the far side is awkward when wet. Lower sections are persistently boggy, and weather on the top changes fast.

Emergency

Call 999 or 112 → ask for Police → request Mountain Rescue. Register Emergency SMS: text "register" to 999.
