Thirty-two miles round Derby from the scout headquarters at Chaddesden on the last Sunday in January: field paths, parkland, canal towpath and some proper hills, five checkpoints, and through the last one at Swarkestone by six. Teams or individuals, 200 places, and a Scout-run event with the atmosphere that comes with it. Self-navigated from the route description.
Terrain and trail
Towpath along the Derwent and the Trent & Mersey, parkland, clay field path and lane, with the hills in the middle section. January mud on every field. A trail shoe.
