What you’re in for
The Saturday ultra at the Goring Gap Trails Festival: a 50-mile loop from the riverside race village at Mapledurham House, near Reading, on the Thames Path and the Ridgeway, returning on the Chiltern Way. It is mostly flat, a mix of trail, footpath and quiet lanes through the Goring Gap and Chiltern villages, with one or two sharp climbs. Expect mud if it has been wet. The route is fully signed with marshals at key points, and a GPX file is emailed about ten days before. Starts are from 06:00, with a 15-hour cut-off and nine support stations in village halls. You need to have finished a 50km ultra to enter. Parking and camping are free on site.
