What you’re in for
A new figure-of-eight from Blackmore village hall: a fifteen-mile loop by Mill Green and Highwood, then eleven more by Wyatts Green and Fryerning for the twenty-six, or a three-mile loop for the eighteen. All to finish by six, late October. An LDWA challenge event, which means walkers and runners together, a route description to navigate by rather than tape, checkpoints with food and drink, and a meal at the end. Entry is through the LDWA's own system, places are limited, and the ones in this list tend to fill early.
Terrain and trail
Essex field path, green lane and woodland — flat, and clay, so heavy after rain. Road shoes with tread, or a trail shoe if the week has been wet.
