Ridge Runners

Ridge Runners is a not-for-profit trail race organiser set up by two Cardiff trail runners, Mark and Elinor. Their races run on the hills and woods around Cardiff and Caerphilly, plus a forest event at Brechfa in Carmarthenshire: Caerphilly 5k and 10k in February, Brechfa half and marathon in March, Radyr half and marathon in May, the Black Cattle point-to-point ultra along the Cambrian Way in August, and Machen half and marathon in November. Expect hilly, varied ground with lots of woodland singletrack and mud. Half marathons and shorter races are marked, but the Machen and Radyr marathons and the Black Cattle ultra need self-navigation, with marshals only at key junctions. Kit checks are strict ('no kit, no entry'), and profits go to local causes chosen by volunteers.
