What you’re in for
Ten kilometres to eighty across the Shropshire Hills from the Discovery Centre at Craven Arms in mid-April: the SW80K with 24 hours, the Mammothon at 42km with 1,000m of climb and twelve hours, the Half Mammothon at 21km with 650m and six, and the Tusker 10K. Over the county's highest ground and through its hillforts, ancient woods, market towns and river valleys, in the organiser's words, and run as a fundraiser for the centre's Grow Cook Learn charity.
Terrain and trail
Hill track and grassy ridge on the Long Mynd and the Stretton hills, woodland path on Wenlock Edge, field and lane in Corvedale, with the steep climbs where the Shropshire Way crosses each range. Muddy in April in the fields. A trail shoe with grip.
