What you’re in for
A post-Christmas run along the Mortimer Trail from Ludlow Castle to Kington in Herefordshire. The ultra is about 30 miles with 1,351m of climbing, and the Croft Half covers the last 17 miles from the Riverside Inn at Aymestrey. The route rises and falls over the High Vinnals, Croft Ambrey and Wapley hill fort, crossing the Teme, Lugg and Arrow valleys on mixed trail, field and lane. The route is self-navigated, and a paper map or route print is compulsory, along with a head torch, full waterproofs and 1 litre of fluid. The ultra starts at 8:00 and the half at 9:00. There are no formal cut-offs. A £15 minibus runs from Kington to the starts.
