Glen Trool in the Galloway Forest Park: a 17km waymarked loop round Loch Trool under some of southern Scotland's wildest hills.
One route so far. Glen Trool and Loch Trool from the visitor centre is 17.2km with 232m of climb, on forest track and loch-shore path that runs in any season. It's the gentle introduction to Galloway; the Merrick and the granite hills above are the next step and not yet on the site. The 359 bus between Girvan and Newton Stewart is the only public transport. Every route has a free GPX download and an honest TRP Grade.
