What you’re in for

Fifty-six miles of the Southern Upland Way from St John's Town of Dalry to Moffat, through the forests and valleys of southern Scotland with the hills behind them. A hardcopy Southern Upland Way map is mandatory, with a base plate compass. Six checkpoints, two of them water only — the Chalk Memorial Bothy and Daer Reservoir — and twenty hours.
