What you’re in for
Land's End to Perranporth Airfield: 82km on the GPX with 2,402m of climb (the organiser says 82.7km and 2,708m), ten o'clock on the Saturday morning of Arc weekend, sixteen hours. Cape Cornwall, Botallack, Zennor Head and the St Ives stretch, across the Hayle estuary and the dunes, over Godrevy and on up the north coast, with the finish after dark for almost everyone. Aid stations roughly twenty miles apart with hot food at the larger ones, a 30-litre drop bag, full mandatory kit. The coast path's acorn signs plus some course waymarking, but the organiser is clear that this is for people with technical-terrain and night-running experience.
Terrain and trail
Granite cliff path and headland from Land's End to St Ives — the roughest, rockiest stretch of the whole Cornish coast, with steps, boulders and bog — then the sand of the Hayle towans and the long cliff line north of Godrevy in the dark. January mud and Atlantic weather throughout. A trail shoe with grip.
