What you’re in for

The southern half of the Pennine Way in January, Edale to Hawes: 108 miles with 5,451 m of climb over the Kinder plateau, past Malham Cove and Pen-y-ghent. Sixty hours, in eight hours of daylight a day and night temperatures down to minus ten. The checkpoint at Birchcliffe has hot food, a drink and somewhere to sleep, which by the standards of this race is luxury.
