What you’re in for

A hundred miles round the red rose county from Dunsop Bridge, the geographical centre of Britain: 163.1km with 2,120m of climb and 34 hours from a five o'clock Friday afternoon start on the August bank holiday weekend. Heather miles of classic Bowland fell, a flat but tough section through Lancaster, canal and riverside, and the long climb out of Caton onto the Hornby Road — the old Roman road over Salter Fell — in the organiser's own summary. Fourteen aid stations, a GPX to follow, and a night on the fells for everyone.

Terrain and trail

Everything Lancashire has: peat and heather on the Bowland fells, the stony Hornby Road, canal towpath through Lancaster, riverside path, farm track and lane. Bog on the tops even in August, firm in the valleys. Navigated from the GPX. A trail shoe with grip.
