What you’re in for
The Salmon Run ultra follows the River Exe upstream for 43 miles, mostly on the Exe Valley Way. It runs from Exmouth seafront to the Green in Dulverton and traces the route of migrating Atlantic salmon. It climbs 1,050m and has a 12-hour cut-off, and runners are told to carry torches. A non-competitive team relay runs the same route on the same day. It is a Tidelines community project run with Wild Running, raising awareness of the Exe's endangered salmon and of weir removal, with music and ceremonies along the route. A GPX is available, and an early bus from Dulverton takes runners to the start. No date has been published for the next running.
