What you’re in for
Matterley Bowl to Eastbourne on the South Downs Way, opening with a four-mile loop of the Matterley Estate before joining the trail and finishing with a lap of the athletics track. Chalk ridgeway most of the way, over rolling hills and past ancient forts. Eighty-five per cent trail. Acorn posts plus pink tape and Centurion arrows, though Centurion are clear that navigating it remains the runner's job. At least twelve aid stations, hot food at Washington, thirty hours.
