What you’re in for

Run from Sparsholt College just west of Winchester, this January race uses tracks, bridleways and footpaths around Farley Mount. The ground rolls rather than climbs, with 248m over the half marathon, including a short pull up to Farley Mount that only the longer route takes in. Tree-lined sections alternate with open views across the Hampshire countryside. Two distances are offered, 21.4k and 12.1k, starting at 9:15 and 9:30 with a noon cut-off. It is popular, with over a thousand runners last time, and makes a sensible early-season outing. Bring a rain jacket, which is on the kit list; no dogs.
