What you’re in for
Day one of the Leeds Country Way Winter Ultras: a point-to-point of about 59km and 800m of climb, clockwise from Garforth Miners Welfare Hall through Swillington, St Aidan's, Methley, Lofthouse, Woodkirk, Morley, Tong, Pudsey and Woodhall Hills to Greengates. It can be run alone or with the next day's North race to complete the full circuit of Leeds. The course is not marked: the LCW has green owl waymarker plates, but runners must navigate with the GPX or a printed map, and recces are recommended. Checkpoints include an indoor halfway stop with drop bags, there is a cut-off at Woodkirk (32km) at 14:30, and the course closes at 18:00. Entrants need a marathon or ultra within the last four years.
