Lakeland Trails

Lakeland Trails run a series of marked, marshalled trail races around the Lake District — Keswick, Helvellyn, Ullswater, Hawkshead, Staveley and Coniston — plus a summer ultra weekend out of Ambleside. They are the least intimidating way into trail racing in the Lakes. Courses are fully marked and marshalled, distances start at 5K, and most events run a "Challenge" wave for people who intend to walk some of it alongside a "Race" wave for people who do not. There is live music and food at the finish, and the whole thing is built around a family day out rather than a time. The exception is the Ultra: 100k, 55k, 23k and 14k from Ambleside, where the 100k is self-navigated as far as Patterdale.
