What you’re in for
From Hawkshead Recreation Ground into rolling Beatrix Potter country, with Windermere below and the Coniston Hills and Langdales beyond. A 10k, and a 16k as either a challenge or a race. Every route takes in the Coffin Trail — a mile of near-vertical climb that the event is known for. Good underfoot in general, though some of the descents are steep and rocky. Fully marked and marshalled.
