What you’re in for
Ten, twenty or forty miles over the central Beacons from Henderson Hall at Talybont-on-Usk in mid-April: 16km with 618m of climb, 32.5km with 1,286m, or 65km with 2,572m and sixteen hours — eight hours for the two shorter ones. A marked course, with a mountain kit list, and it is the climbing that earns the name.
Terrain and trail
Reservoir track and forest road out of Talybont, then the mountain: grassy ridge, peaty plateau and stone-pitched path on the central Beacons, with steep drops between the summits. Wet in April, and the tops are exposed. Marked. A trail shoe with grip.
