What you’re in for
A single fifty-mile loop out of Goring-on-Thames and back to it. It opens on the hilliest part of the Thames Path to Whitchurch, picks up the Chiltern Way towards Mapledurham, then works north through Sonning Common, Bix, Turville under Cobstone Windmill and the deer park at Stonor. Christmas Common is the high point at around 245 m, and the drop off it passes under Watlington Hill to meet the Ridgeway near Swyncombe Farm. Grim's Ditch takes you to the last aid station at Blue Tin Farm Shop, and the run in from there is one of the quickest stretches on the course. Four fifths of it is trail and the rest is road. Centurion mark the whole thing with ribbons and arrows, so there is nothing to navigate. Trail shoes are the advice.
