What you’re in for
Up Hedgehope and back from Ingram in deep winter, whatever the weather. The organiser calls it a half marathon (ish); the 2026 running measured 17km with 685m of climb. January in the Cheviots, so the point is the conditions.
Terrain and trail
Valley track up the Breamish, then open hill: grass, heather and peat to Hedgehope's summit, exposed all the way, and back the same kind of ground. Snow is likely, ice possible. Winter kit and a fell shoe.
