What you’re in for

A full lap of the Leeds Country Way, roughly 100km (62 miles) around the city on footpaths, bridleways and minor lanes, never far from the centre but mostly rural, with wide views over West and North Yorkshire. The organiser puts it at about 80% trail and 20% road or tarmac. The LCW has owl waymarker plaques and the final quarter gets extra reflective markers for the dark, but otherwise there is no event marking and the GPX is mandatory. There are at least eight checkpoints, two of them indoors with hot food and drop bags. The main start allows 16 hours; an early start gives slower runners up to 24. Crew are welcome and a headtorch is checked at dusk.
