What you’re in for

A flat single-lap 50km from Summerleaze Park in Maidenhead. It starts at noon, and the aim is to finish before sunset at 8:57pm. The route uses the Thames Path, the Jubilee River, the Green Way and the woods at Burnham Beeches. It is about 75 percent off-road on firm ground, and the organiser says road shoes are fine. The course is fully signed with arrows and tape. There are four checkpoints about 10km apart, and you can send your own food to the last two. You must carry a phone, foil blanket and 500ml of fluid. The cut-off is 8 hours 57 minutes, which suits first-time ultra runners.
