What you’re in for
The Welsh round of the GORUCK Epic Trail Series, based at Tor y Foel in the Brecon Beacons. The organiser bills it as the series' toughest climbing test: 15k with 680m of ascent or 8k with 290m, on technical hill ground with fast descents. As at every Epic event, you can enter as a trail runner or carry a ruck, in raced Pro categories (with age groups and prizes for the top three) or untimed Open ones. Rucks are provided on the day. Heats usually start between 11:00 and 11:30, and the race-week pack confirms times and parking. Water stations, a bag drop and toilets are provided.
