What you’re in for

Forty-two kilometres of the North Wales Pilgrims Way across the Llŷn from below Yr Eifl at Llithfaen to Aberdaron, with 626m of climb, on the same Saturday in June as the Pilgrims Trail 60. Walkers away at seven and runners at nine, so the two fields mix through the day; checkpoints and refreshments on the way, a medal at the finish, and a bus back to the start for fifteen pounds. Coast path, old pilgrim lanes and villages — the organiser's own summary is a challenging but achievable journey across one of the most beautiful parts of North Wales, and that is fair.

Terrain and trail

Coast path over the headlands, sunken green lanes and field path in the middle, and quiet lanes through the villages, with the climbing in short pulls rather than one big hill. Firm in June. Marked with the trail's own waymarkers and the organiser's extras. A trail shoe, or a road shoe with tread.
