What you’re in for

Runners take the West Somerset Railway steam train from Minehead and run back. Marathon runners get off at Bishops Lydeard and cross the main Quantock ridge before dropping to Williton and Washford. From there they follow parts of the Steam Coast Trail and the England Coast Path to Minehead. The 11.5-mile race starts from Williton station and the 11k from Washford. The starts are staggered (10:15, 11:30 and 12:15) so that finishers arrive in Minehead around the same time. The course is fully waymarked with orange arrows and flags, there are four aid stations on the marathon, and cut-offs are generous. Timing is by K2, and GPX files appear on the downloads page two days before.
