What you’re in for
Storm the Fort is a winter night trail run on Brean Down, the ridge that runs out into the Bristol Channel between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea. Each 5k lap climbs steeply onto the down, runs out to the Victorian fort and through its buildings, then takes a short technical climb onto the ridge before dropping to the finish. The 10k is two laps. It is part of Channel Events' Dark Skies series. The course is waymarked with reflective markers, and a torch of at least 250 lumens is compulsory. Registration runs from 18:15 to 19:15, the 10k starts at 19:25 and the 5k at 19:35. Bring your own cup.
