What you’re in for

This is a run version of a centuries-old walk around the boundary of the Royal Forest of Exmoor. The 30-mile route from the Pinkery Centre near Simonsbath crosses remote moorland, including private land opened only for the event. The 15-mile option shares the first half and finishes at Picked Stones, with a free shuttle back. The route is not waymarked, so you must navigate with map, compass and route description; GPX files are on the downloads page. Runners start at 09:00, after the walkers. To continue onto the second half you must leave checkpoint 5b by 13:00. Entries are capped at 500 across walkers and runners. Full mountain kit is required, including OS OL9, a compass and waterproof trousers.
