No reviews of the ONER, and nothing on what people wore. Both are things no organiser publishes and every runner wants before they enter — how it actually went, and what was on your feet.

30h cut-off, which needs 12:51/km

What you’re in for

The whole Jurassic Coast Challenge in one go: 140km from near Charmouth to Shell Bay at Studland, with the complete circuit of Portland included, inside a hard thirty hours from a midday Saturday start in early June. That is a minimum of 5.8 kilometres an hour, every hour, through a full night on exposed cliff path. Checkpoints roughly every 10km, staffed and with medical cover; a comprehensive mandatory kit list; and a means of navigation carried, because the route is not marked beyond the coast path's own signs. One of the harder cut-offs on the British ultra calendar for the distance.

Terrain and trail

Everything the three-day version has, compressed: the clay cliffs and Golden Cap in the west, Chesil, Portland's limestone, the Purbeck climbs from Osmington to Lulworth and on over the ranges to Kimmeridge, St Aldhelm's Head and Swanage — most of it in the dark — then Studland's beach and dune. Steep, exposed and hot in June or wet in June. A trail shoe with grip.
