What you’re in for
A flat 28-mile ultra on the traffic-free Brampton Valley Way, the old railway line between Market Harborough and Northampton. Runners choose which end to start from, run the full 14 miles to the other end and back, and are scored as Leicestershire or Northamptonshire in a team contest between the two ends. Total climb is around 280m. The surface is hard-packed gravel, fine in road or trail shoes, but two unlit tunnels of 294m and 422m have rutted, puddled floors, so a torch is needed. Feed stations come every 4.5 miles, marshals cover the road crossings including the busy A508, and there are toilets at both ends. Not open to canicross.
