What you’re in for
A 54-mile loop that starts and finishes at Brixworth Country Park, through Northamptonshire farmland and villages, Salcey Forest, a short stretch of the Grand Union Canal, and parts of the Nene Way, Midshires Way and Northampton Round. About two-thirds is cross-country, with around 15 miles on roads and 706m of climbing. The Rosebud Marathon covers the last 26.2 miles from Hartwell; a bus takes runners from Brixworth to its start. The route is waymarked but you will need to navigate some sections, using the tracker and voice-cue app. The ultra starts at 08:00 with a 13.5-hour cut-off and six checkpoints. The marathon starts at 11:30 with 8 hours. Mandatory kit includes a headtorch.
