What you’re in for

A 7-mile fell race on the moors above Rivington, run on the last morning of the year. Registration is at The Little Tea Room at Higher Derbyshire, and the start is sent off by a bagpiper. Kit follows FRA guidance, so carry full waterproofs, a hat and gloves whatever the forecast, and expect wet, wintry ground. The race is for over-18s only and has a cut-off of two and a half hours. Every finisher gets a pint and a pie (soft drinks and a vegetarian option are available), and the prize-giving is a private party with a live band at The Crown in Horwich from midday.
