What you’re in for
Day two of the MTC Severn Challenge, which can also be entered on its own. From the Mid Wales Arts Centre near Caersws it heads inland before meeting the Severn at Newtown. It then follows the river and the Montgomery Canal towpath past Welshpool and the Breidden Hills to Montford Bridge, finishing at the Premier Inn in Shrewsbury. Most of it is low riverside path, towpath and field edges. Some sections can be overgrown and hide the waymarks, so GPX navigation is recommended. Four checkpoints close on a 4 mph schedule, and February weather and mud are likely. The race is point to point, so arrange your own transport.
