What you’re in for
Day two of the MTC Thames Challenge, also run as a standalone race. It covers 49 miles from the Abingdon Road Travelodge in Oxford, joining the Thames Path at Donnington Bridge. The route then passes Sandford, Culham, Cholsey, Streatley, Whitchurch and Reading before finishing at the Catherine Wheel in Henley. The running is flat and beside the river, apart from a few short detours inland. The course is not marked, so you need the GPX or the organiser's directions. There are three checkpoints, a 4 mph minimum pace and a finish cut-off of just over 12 hours. Runners arrange their own transport to the start and from the finish.
