The course
What you’re in for
A four-day stage race along the whole Thames Path, from Kemble and the source in the Cotswolds to the Thames Barrier at Greenwich. Each day is a race in its own right: the Cotswold Ultra (57 miles to Oxford), Oxford Ultra (49 to Henley), Windsor Ultra (47 to Kingston) and Richmond Ultra (33 to the finish). The ground is mostly flat riverside path, but the daily mileage and the 4 mph minimum pace make it hard going. For the first three nights, entry includes a shared hotel room and an evening main meal, plus a basic breakfast and a daily transfer of one cabin-sized bag. The route is not marked, so runners navigate with the GPX, directions and maps.
