The course
What you’re in for
Day one of the MTC Thames Challenge and a race in its own right. It runs 57 miles from Kemble station out to the source of the Thames and back, then down the Thames Path through Somerford Keynes, Cricklade, Lechlade, Radcot, Newbridge and Bablock Hythe. The finish is a Travelodge on the Abingdon Road in Oxford. The ground is flat riverside path and meadow with little climbing. The only signs are the national trail's own, so carry the GPX or the written directions and maps. There are four checkpoints, and a 4 mph minimum pace is enforced through timed CP closures. Getting to Kemble and home from Oxford is up to you.
