What you’re in for

Start and finish on Glasgow Green, in the middle of the city, with the countryside around it in between. The 55km strings together riverside paths, woodland and open country before turning back for the Green; the 25km is a shorter version of the same idea. The organiser has not published the route in detail yet, and the feed station locations — three on the 55km, one on the 25km — come closer to the day. The 55km is 55.7km with 330m of climb, the 25km 26.0km and 239m. Both fully signed and supported.

Terrain and trail

Expect the Beyond mix: riverside and cycle paths out of the city, then trail, woodland and quiet country before the paths bring you back in. Little of it is steep and most of it is firm. Until the route is published, plan for a road or light trail shoe and the usual Clyde-valley mud in wet weather.
