What you’re in for

A festive 5km or 10km through Sherwood Pines near Mansfield in mid-December, run for families, walkers and dogs as much as for anyone chasing a time. Three thousand acres of Nottinghamshire pine forest twenty minutes from the A1 and M1, with the mountain-bike trails and play areas of the country park around the start. The 5km is 5.1km with 57m of climb and the 10km 10.0km with 102m. Start times are approximate until the final emails.

Terrain and trail

Forest track and sandy single-track between the pines, flat to gently rolling, with roots and puddles in December. Fast ground. Road shoes with tread.
